Recently found a quite fascinating study on the evolution of the mammalian braincase. There are quite a few studies on multituberculate and eutriconodont endocasts, but this one quite stood out to me because it demonstrates that the evolution of the mammalian brain was not a linear process; therians lack several braincase features seen in more “basal” mammals. It is quite an interesting read, and I strongly recommend it.
