Plankton movie review

Well, it’s better than the Sandycheeks movie. But then again, what the hell isn’t?

For one thing, the animation is better. Most of the movie has a shadowless but relatively decent CGI style, with a few 2D elements like Karen’s faces. Some scenes like flashbacks however go for a vibrant 2D style reminescent of classic cartoons, which is pretty welcome considering the abysmal visuals of th previous Netflix Spongebob movie. And a few scenes show live action for Plankton’s hands; its funnier than this description I swear.

Spongebob is once again what drives the movie down. He’s at his dumbest, so the other characters do the plot and comedic heavy lifting.

A somewhat tepid recommendation.
