MTG color analysis: furry visual novels second round
Years ago I made an analysis about furry visual novel protagonists and their color alignment. My conclusion was that they were all over the place, but mostly on Boros colors
Let’s do a do-over and see if that’s still the case
Echo Project
Chase is still Blue/Black, Sam Red/GreenWhite, Marco Red with potentiality towards Red/White or Black/Red, Scipio is Blue/Green/Black, Cam is still Red/Black (with the full released game he shifts to mono-Green) and Dev is still Red/Green.
We have an addition in Alex from Glory Hounds , which is primarily Black aligned, since he’s into the superhero busieness for pay and excitement, but by no means a bad person.
Tally: 2 white, 2 blue, 5 black, 4 red and 4 green
Dawn Chorus
Arvo is still Red/Blue
Tally: 2 white, 3 blue, 5 black, 5 red and 4 green
Minotaur Hotel
The player can still be any color.
Tally: 3 white, 4 blue, 6 black, 6 red and 5 green
Lands of Fire
Kubbadang is still mostly Black, but I think I added some Blue as I wrapped up the game.
Tally: 3 white, 5 blue, 7 black, 6 red and 5 green
Fueled by Insanity
The protagonist is still mono-Red
Tally: 3 white, 5 blue, 7 black, 7 red and 5 green
Password
Dave is still primarily white
Tally: 4 white, 5 blue, 7 black, 7 red and 5 green
I. C. O. Machina Lutris
The game has been rebooted, but I think Judah is still primarily Black aligned, though with some White added
Tally: 5 white, 5 blue, 8 black, 7 red and 5 green
Socially Awkward
Jayce is still Red/Green
Tally: 5 white, 5 blue, 8 black, 8 red and 6 green
Lyre
Richter is still mostly White, but with Blue traits having cropped up since before.
Tally: 5 white, 6 blue, 8 black, 8 red and 6 green
Eden’s Reach
Adrian is still primarily Red, but some White traits have been revealed as he claims he likes how his music unites people.
Tally: 6 white, 6 blue, 8 black, 9 red and 6 green
Pervader
Reamus is still very Green/White, but it was reasoned by a friend to me that he could also be part blue due to his desire to learn and practise more.
Tally: 7 white, 7 blue, 8 black, 9 red and 7 green
In Case of Emergency
Kieran’s personality is still primarily Green with the various options for an additional color
Tally: 8 white, 8 blue, 9 black, 10 red and 8 green
London’s Aesop
Ah, how I wish this hasn’t been cancelled, Ethan’s still Red/White.
Tally: 9 white, 8 blue, 9 black, 11 red and 8 green
Brave Paradise
Another one I wish hasn’t been cancelled. Emilio is still Red/Green
Tally: 9 white, 8 blue, 9 black, 12 red and 9 green
Violet Memoir
Wallace is still a nice example of White/Blue/Black
Tally: 10 white, 9 blue, 10 black, 12 red and 9 green
Far Beyond The World
‘Caelan’ is still Black/Red
Tally: 10 white, 9 blue, 11 black, 13 red and 9 green
Shelter
Still Red/White for our protagonist
Tally: 11 white, 9 blue, 11 black, 13 red and 9 green
Now with some new additions I like
Remember The Flowers
Cyrus starts off as pretty Green, accepting his fate, but becomes White as he decides to defend his new found family and put an end to combat Resoom.
Tally: 12 white, 9 blue, 11 black, 13 red and 10 green
Polar Night
Garret Reid is pretty Black/Red, being only there because his mother ordered him to. In general he’s not a bad person and even friendly to some of his crew mates, but clearly looking out for himself foremost
Tally: 12 white, 9 blue, 12 black, 14 red and 10 green
Super Nova
Nick is very White aligned, intending to fulfill Templar’s legacy out of duty and a desire to help others, but you can play him to be a bit more Red and be looking for excitement.
Tally: 13 white, 9 blue 12 black, 15 red and 10 green
Hearts Faster Than Light
Dawn is very Green/White, wanting to help and heal others.
Tally: 14 white, 9 blue, 12 black, 15 red and 10 green
Soulcreek
The main character is very Blue, being a tabula rasa wanting to find out questions about his whole existence. You can play him to have a bit of a temper but I don’t thtink even that makes him Red.
Tally: 14 white, 10 blue, 12 black, 15 red and 10 green
Repeat
Euca is very horny and playfully, so mono-Red it is
Tally: 14 white, 10 blue, 12 black, 16 red and 10 green
Temptation’s Ballad
Cole is Black/Red, being mainly selfish and having some crippling doubts about being a good person. Sidd is Blue/Green, being nerdy as well as instinctual in his combat abilities. Artemi is Red/White as she is devoted to do good, but has a temper, seeks freedom and has lightning based powers to boot, unlike her order’s light based ones.
Tally: 15 white, 11 blue, 13 black, 17 red and 11 green
A Masquerade in the Woods
One of my new personal favourites. The main character is Red/White, having been wronged by both criminals and the police and seeking justice.
Tally: 16 white, 11 blue, 13 black, 18 red and 11 green
Results
Once more, Boros colors seem to win, but Black is very closely behind, perhaps because edgy or selfish protagonists are the next go to outside purely heroic or hedonistic ones. Green and Blue still remain side colors, but much better represented since last time, perhaps because nerds and people who seek connection are also becoming valid protagonist choices.
