Creature Commandos review
In a time where DC animation is in dire straits, James Gunn proves his love for DC comics with this incredible exploration into DC’s less well known characters. Again does he write a team of anti-heroes (with one good egg), but it’s distinct enough from his work in Suicide Squad and Guardians of the Galaxy. The characters all have strong personalities and stand out on their own.
The animation is fantastic, and the fight scene coreography is to die for.
I’m nonetheless a bit confused about the place of this story in canon. DCEU has ended and a new cinematic reboot is in the horizon, but a lot of this series lore is in direct continuation of the Suicide Squad movies, down to spoilers from them. Oh well.
A solids recommendation.
